Lately, there has been quite a lot of excitement among the fans of PlayStation regarding the next generation Sony’s console aka PS5. Now although no official release date has been revealed so far, still there has been quite a lot of information regarding what we can expect from the next gen Sony PlayStation. Obviously, there are more rumors and speculations compared to what the company has revealed. However now finally we have the official details that shed light on the future console of Sony.

In a recent exclusive Wired interview with the chief architect of this upcoming console, Mark Cerny, the first official details about the next gen Sony PlayStation have been revealed. Based on which not only will this future console be backward’s compatible with PS4 games, it will also support 8K resolution. Now the backward compatibility might come as a surprise since we all know that Sony has been very touchy with incorporating that very element.

However, now with them including this feature, it is a sigh of relief for the fans who are worried about their PS4 games. Other details revealed in the interview have been listed below. Check them out.

  • CPU based on AMD Ryzen, custom GPU based on AMD Radeon Navi, ray-tracing support
  • SSD
  • Supports PSVR & physical media

When we see AMD based GPU we can’t help but mention that a little while back Microsoft also officially declared that their future Xbox will be AMD powered. So this does seem to spice up the competition between the two. Be that as it may, regarding the release date, Mark Cerny did add something which most of us were already expecting. Cerny adds that Next Gen Sony PlayStation will not be rolling out this year.

Which is pretty reasonable as most of us already rooting for it to roll out sometime in 2020. So perhaps the year 2020 will be a revolutionary one for the gaming industry. These were the official details, as for some leaks and reports, one of which claims that the PS5 won’t all be digital, rather it will also have physical copies for games. That my friends, is just a claim, so fingers crossed on that, for now.

With all that put into context, have you heard about Google’s upcoming console, Stadia? Which seemingly appears to be the future of the console gaming, as one might add because the best thing about it is that you do not need a high powered console to run games at 4K. What kind of complications it might add to this future consoles is still to be seen.
