I have a lot of love for Movies especially science fiction however nothing beats the fun of sitting behind a screen and playing some hard core FPS games. Apart from them i am a major lover of Assassins Creed titles especially Brotherhood, The Witcher and God Of War. Huge fan of animation director Hayo Mayazaki.
Before BioWare’s Anthem rolled out it was considered to be one of the big titles to release this year, however, following its demo some concerns were raised and now with it completely out it seems like it just might have been a waste of time, altogether. This is not what we are saying out of thin air rather these are the words of about nineteen anonymous sources who have either worked directly or were adjacent to the development of Anthem, citing that its failure comes from its rush in development.
Courtesy of Kotaku, a report was compiled that apparently cites 19 anonymous sources of those who have worked in the development of Anthem. According to them, the development of Anthem was troubled in such a way that it was rushed. In fact, they have added that the demo of Anthem that everyone saw at E3 2017 was a fake one, in such a way that it was not even a proper demo. Moreover
According to one of the developers of Anthem, decisions were made on something that was not even there, he said;
YOU COULDN’T PLAY IT. THERE WAS NOTHING THERE. IT WAS JUST THIS CRAZY FINAL RUSH. THE HARD PART IS, HOW DO YOU MAKE A DECISION WHEN THERE’S NO GAME? THERE’S NOTHING TO PLAY. SO YEAH, YOU’RE GOING TO KEEP QUESTIONING YOURSELF,”
While everyone might perceive such statements regarding the rush in the development of Anthem to be the reason behind such a rising failure but we are fooled by it. We think that the devs knew what why were endorsing and what they were developing, these are just small talks and half measures to reduce the rage that is emerging among the fans due to the issues being faced in the game.
Based on the report, the reasons why the development of Anthem makes it a failure to be, comes from lack of cohesive vision, leadership changes and above all the struggle with the Frostbite engine. All of this, in turn, they added created such an environment that was high stress giving environment and a lot of devs had to endure severe anxiety and depression at BioWare.
Talking about the demo, a former developer at BioWare said,
The demo was not actually built properly—a lot of it was fake, like most E3 demos. There was a lot of stuff that was like, ‘Oh are we actually doing this? Do we have the tech for that, do we have the tools for that? To what end can you fly? How big should the world be?’”
There is no doubt about the bugs that have existed in the game since its inception, from the looks of it the kind of game it was meant to be had to have such issues but considering the report to be legit, it appears to be that this was all a waste of time. The way devs have been endorsing this game, it seemed as if it would mark green flags everywhere. Fans actually started to worry about Anthem being on next-gen consoles but now the question stands, will this game even survive such a distance?
