The news of Activision and Bungie split took the gaming community with much shock and apparently the news circling around it doesn’t seem to settle down. Following the split, Bungie got complete control over Destiny franchise which leads to other concerns, especially regarding Destiny 3 and its release. Now though just when things were to settle down, Activision’s stock took a massive blow following the split with Bungie and now, another news has seemingly emerged which claims that Activision is currently under fraud investigation.

In a recent report by Market Watch, it has been claimed that an investigation has kicked off at Activision, in an attempt to uncover alleged frauds by the company conducted during daily operations. They specifically added that the purpose of this investigation is to focus on noticing any type of unlawful business practices conducted by Activision. This report was set up in order to alert the shareholder of the company.

Having said that this Activision fraud investigation is being led by Pomerantz LLP. Pomerantz LLP is a firm which specifically specializes in corporate functionality, securities, and antitrust class litigation.

So you can be sure of one thing that if any type of fraud has actually been done by Activision, then this Pomerantz LLP firm is more than classified to investigate it properly.

Be that as it may, we know that the split between Bungie and Activision came pretty much as a shock to many and not many are satisfied with that both the companies had to say. That said, this does lead to speculation that there could possibly be some kind of unlawful act which might have pushed towards this split but that is just mere speculation & should be treated as such.

When we first launched our partnership with Activision in 2010, the gaming industry was in a pretty different place. As an independent studio setting out to build a brand new experience, we wanted a partner willing to take a big leap of faith with us. We had a vision for Destiny that we believed in, but to launch a game of that magnitude, we needed the support of an established publishing partner.”

Bungie said in its statement.

They further added,

With Activision, we created something special. To date, Destiny has delivered a combination of over 50 million games and expansions to players all around the world. More importantly, we’ve also witnessed a remarkable community – tens of millions of Guardians strong – rise up and embrace Destiny, to play together, to make and share memories, and even to do truly great things that reach far beyond the game we share, to deliver a positive impact on people’s everyday lives.”

While this is what Activision had to say regarding the split.

Today we’re announcing plans for Bungie to assume full publishing rights and responsibilities for the Destiny franchise. Going forward, Bungie will own and develop the franchise, and Activision will increase its focus on owned IP and other projects. Activision and Bungie are committed to a seamless transition for the Destiny franchise and will continue to work closely together during the transition on behalf of the community of Destiny players around the world.”

With all that said, let us see what become of this fraud investigation at Activision because it might affect the future of gaming franchises by the two.
