As soon as Aquaman rolled out, the first ever reactions were seemingly exceeding expectations. As a matter of fact, they actually did. Although with a few bumps and some mixed reviews, the film seems to be floating, when it comes to making money. At this very moment, Aquaman is projected to surpass Avengers Age of Ultron as well as Venom, in terms of grossing, in China only.

Apparently, it seems like there are more fans of Aquaman in China than anywhere else. The film is set to surpass 240 million of Avengers Age of Ultron and 270 million dollars of Venom in China. If this turns out to be true, it will make Aquaman the second biggest Hollywood film behind the one and only, Avengers Infinity War. Which has about 359 million dollars in the bank from China only.

Globally Aquaman has made over 260 million dollars, according to the Hollywood Reporter. This figure does not include the domestic North American market as James Wan directorial will roll out on December 21st domestically.

As for the mixed reviews, Aquaman has had a fair share of criticism along with its ongoing success.

Peter Debruge of Variety has said,

“It doesn’t suck, but only if you’re willing to sit through two hours of waterlogged world-building before the movie finally takes off.”

While Helen O’Hara of Empire adds,

This is an Aquaman film that needs lots more Aquaman and vastly less bombast. It’s visually wild and recklessly inventive, deserves cast deserve better than to be cast adrift in a tempest of CGI. Full review

As for Venom in the competition, all of this situation seems pretty much relatable one way or the other. When Venom originally rolled out the film saw somewhat of similar criticism from the critics. In fact a little too much, however, it too went on to become a successful super villain movie.

So, these days one can only come to the conclusion that those who actually were not able to opt a career became critics. Having said that we would recommend that you do watch Aquaman and be the best judge of it.

Be that as it may, do you think that Aquaman shall surpass Venom and Avengers Age of Ultron, not only in China but globally? Let us know in the comments below.
