When we last reported such type of acquisition by Microsoft to take place, we took a deep hunch based on a few rumors and speculations. And it seemed like that hunch just actually became a reality, as just recently, Obsidian Entertainment and inXile have been acquired by Microsoft.

We are no strange to the fact that Microsoft has been adding companies per companies to its fleet of studios. And this time around Microsoft has officially acquired Obsidian Entertainment and inXile.

The acquisition of both of these video game developer companies by Microsoft, does not come as a surprise and just a little while back, we had a lot of rumors that suggested so. Especially regarding Obsidian Entertainment.

With that being said, Obsidian Entertainment is a well-known studio, the one behind some popular games like Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity. All the while, inXile, is known form Wasteland 2 and The Bard’s Tale IV.

So rest assured, this is quite an acquisition done by Microsft and surely it promises some better projects in regards to future endeavors.

Putting all that into context, the rate at which Microsoft has been talking over various developer companies is pretty intriguing itself. In fact to such level that there have been a few rumors, which seem to suggest that Microsoft might even acquire big companies like EA or Activision.

However, rumors and speculations like these are more of a long shot. Considering how big Activision and Electronic Arts actually is, it would not be a feasible economic decision for Microsoft.
