As you may already know that a biographical film on the British rock band Queen, Bohemian Rapsody is on its way and will hit theaters come November. However, early reviews are in and they seem to contradict everyone’s believes. Apparently, the early reviews of Bohemian Rhapsody Movie are pretty mixed.

For most of the reviewers, it has failed to elicit more than an average expression. Bohemian Rhapsody Movie is directed by Bryan Singer and stars Rami Malek playing the role of Freddie Mercury.

That said, currently, this film holds a 55% rating at Rotten Tomatoes, which has certainly raised a few eyebrows.

Most of the critics have reached a similar consensus.

“Bohemian Rhapsody hits a handful of high notes, but as an in-depth look at a beloved band, it offers more of a medley than a true greatest hits collection.”

Steve Rose at The Guardian has shed some extra bright light in Bohemian Rapsody Movie. Talking about Mercury’s sexuality he said,

“Unforgivably, Bohemian Rhapsody casts Mercury’s wilderness years as a symptom of his gayness. We see the solo Mercury in Munich, drug-addled, shorn of his real friends and exploited by his new ones, who are mostly leather-clad, party-happy men. It reduces Mercury’s homosexuality to a tutting “he’s got in with the wrong crowd”.

Then relating it to the overall film he said,

“A bolder film might have explored the relationship between Mercury’s hedonism, his mostly closeted sexuality and his on and off-stage personas in a more nuanced way.”

All the while Brian Truitt of USA Today, said that this movie was not able to do justice with the band. He said,

“Bohemian Rhapsody” the song is a sonic masterpiece and “Bohemian Rhapsody” the movie is just a conventional rock flick, one all too ordinary for a man and a band that exemplified the extraordinary.”

With that said, for us, it would be a little too early to pass any judgment, for all we know, most of us are looking forward to seeing Rami Malek’s most staggering performance yet.
