Just a few hours back, Intellivision Amico Console was unveiled at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo. Along with its unveiling, we have finally been able to learn about its games prices and the release date.

The release date of this console is set for, 10th October 2020. Intellivision Entertainment initiated the teasing process of this upcoming console back in May. However, until the Portland Retro Gaming Expo presentation, nothing interesting about it was revealed.

Additionally, the official trailer and the press release for this Intellivision Amico Console will be coming on Monday. They have at the moment revealed quite a lot of interesting details that can keep you booked until Monday.

Thanks to DualShockers, those details are available. That being said, the name of this upcoming console is Intellivision Amico and it will roll out as mentioned above on October 10th, 2020.

Amico means friend in Italian, which points out towards the fact, how family friendly this console actually will be. Which ultimately translates into the user-friendly console. And that is a really good approach as the current gen consoles for the market is all about being user-friendly.

Having said that Intellivision Amico shall only allow 2D games that have a rating of E10+ or less while the price of this console will be somewhere around $2.99 and &7.99. Furthermore, this system also features a specifically designed chip made in-house that will push those 2D game to their limits.

As well as produce 2D graphics which seek to surpass the quality seen on consoles like PS4 or Xbox One. Moving on to the games, all of the games on this console will be exclusive and will solely be Intellivision developed games. Those games will mostly be remakes of older titles.

They have in line quite a lot of titles that will have a remake and not only from Intellivision titles but classic Atari and iMagic titles as well.

Some of the specific titles are mentioned below.

  • Moon Control
  • Burgertime
  • Lode Runner
  • ToeJam and Earl
  • Spelunker
  • Pong

With all that said, no gameplay for any of the games have been released so far so we are thin on that but rest assured these remakes will supposedly feature better graphics and audio composition than the original.

What are your thoughts about this upcoming console? Also considering the fact, as rumors have it, we might also be getting the next-gen PlayStation console, PS5 sometime in 2020 or 2019. Will it affect this Intellivision Amico Console? We like to think so, what are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below.
