I have a lot of love for Movies especially science fiction however nothing beats the fun of sitting behind a screen and playing some hard core FPS games. Apart from them i am a major lover of Assassins Creed titles especially Brotherhood, The Witcher and God Of War. Huge fan of animation director Hayo Mayazaki.
One of the most popular news that has spurred a lot of tension in the gaming community is the news of Telltale Games Studio potentially shutting down.
Just recently we came to know that Telltale Games have once again laid off quite a lot of employees which has left the studio in further deep waters that bets are, it will be shutting down.
To add to the clarity, around 250 people have been let go that is about 90% of the total studio’s employee number. Which leaves the “studio with 25 employees only at the moment. It seems to be that they have kept these numbers in order to complete the remaining project.
They have added that Netflix will be continuing Minecraft Story Mode project, however other Telltale projects have been canceled with immediate effect.
Having said that Telltale Games Studio is known from it’s popular The Walking Dead title. CEO Pete Hawley of the company says in his statement,
It’s been an incredibly difficult year for Telltale as we worked to set the company on a new course. Unfortunately, we ran out of time trying to get there. We released some of our best content this year and received a tremendous amount of positive feedback, but ultimately, that did not translate to sales. With a heavy heart, we watch our friends leave today to spread our brand of storytelling across the games industry.
For the studio, this may be quite a hard time but for the employees who have been let go, it is definitely an even hard time for them as well.
That is why a hashtag on Twitter “#TelltaleJobs” is filling up to the offers from studio offering to employ displaced Telltale staff.
– There are people who started at Telltale as recently as a week ago.
– Some of those people have children.
– At least one of them relocated cross country
– A lot of the Telltale devs have families & children. And now they don't have a paycheck. Not even a severance paycheck.
