Gamescom 2018 just recently took place and although it brought in a lot of exciting details regarding the upcoming titles, the future prospects of various companies and such but there also have been some worrisome news as well. According to the Producer of the upcoming game, Soulcalibur VI, the success of this title will pretty much determine the future of the series.

In a recent interview at Gamescom 2018, Producer Motohiro Okubo was asked about this upcoming title that why it has taken so long. To which he replied through the help of the translator that Soulcalibur series is an amazing series and the studio has been working very hard in trying to not disappoint the fans with Soulcalibur VI.

According to Okubo, it is imperative that this upcoming title turns out to be a successful one or perhaps the studio will have to say goodbye to this amazing series.

Now the reason for that to be the case is that Okubo had to convince the company to not let go of this series just yet. As the company already has low expectations form this franchise now and they is why they were hesitant in the first place.

However, Okubo was fortunate enough to not let this franchise die out, so now the success of Soulcalibur VI depends on how the studio makes this game and also what the fans think of it.

Okubo said,

“The first thing is that the IP itself of the Soulcalibur franchise had low expectations form the company. It was actually facing a crisis of maybe disappearing. It took time for me to convince the company.”

With that being said, what we can conclude is that unless this upcoming sequel to one of the most loved game franchise makes a heavy comeback, which does not seem to be a possibility, looking at how the devs are skeptical about this title.

So with fingers crossed this Soulcalibur VI could put a nail in the coffin to the franchise, however, it could also be the other way around. Talking about this title, did you guys know that Yoshimitsu from the Tekken series is also making an appearance in this upcoming game, along with other characters?

So the success of this title is still not out of the question, be that as it may, this game is expected to roll out on October 19, 2018, across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
