One of the most popular game PUBG has been lately struggling with hackers and cheaters. There have been few anti-cheat updates, still, it appears as if, it will take more than some basic anti-cheat measures. Recently it became know that fifteen accused PUBG Cheaters have been arrested.
Those fifteen people are suspected to have used hacks and cheats in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Based on the accusations they have apparently been arrested.
The news of this became know from a recent update on Steam from PUBG Corp. While we all know that PUBG Corp has been working on adding anti-cheat measures to the game, they have also been in contact with the judicial authorities of those countries where hacking games is illegal.
On April 25th, 15 suspects were arrested, who have been accused of cheating or selling cheating software designed for PUBG.
The PUBG update has not specified, where these arrests have been made so we can not speculate much on that. Still based on the names revealed, it seems that these accused PUBG Cheaters have been arrested somewhere in China.
The translated information from the local authorities, PUBG Corp has worked with worked with on this case is mentioned below.
“15 major suspects including “OMG”, “FL”, “火狐”, “须弥” and “炎黄” were arrested for developing hack programs, hosting marketplaces for hack programs, and brokering transactions. Currently the suspects have been fined approximately 30mil RNB ($5.1mil USD). Other suspects related to this case are still being investigated.
Some hack programs that are being distributed through the internet includes a Huigezi Trojan horse*(Chinese backdoor) virus. It was proven that hack developers used this virus to control users’ PC, scan their data, and extract information illegally.”
What comes of this remains to be seen. If you are a PUBG fan then you can certainly count on the PUBG Corp, not letting go of this cheating issue that easily.
